Able Living

The last eighteen months has shown that the definition of essential worker is broader than we thought.  In addition to nurses, police and fireys, we now realise that those who work in the local pharmacy or supermarket are just as valuable to maintaining our daily lives in times of uncertainty.  Another, probably lesser known, essential worker are those in businesses that supply mobility aids and appliances.  For the aged and those with disabilities or requiring rehab, this equipment is vital to ensure that they can remain at home and maintain their lifestyle or recover from surgery.

The team at one of these local businesses, Able Living, have worked tirelessly to ensure that the most vulnerable in our community have been able to get the vital products that they need. During lockdowns and outbreaks, Able Living’s showrooms in Heidelberg West and Mont Albert have remained open and ready to listen to customer’s needs and assist them to choose the best products.

To safeguard customers and the community, Able Living have a Covid-safe plan and require customers to wear masks and sign in upon arrival. High contact surfaces are cleaned and disinfected frequently to minimise any risk of infection. The Heidelberg West showroom is also able to offer private 20-minute appointments for customers who are at greater risk from the virus.

The pandemic has seen an increase in people staying at home when they may have previously moved to an aged care facility.  This has increased demand for products such as lift recliners, electric beds, walkers, bathroom and toilet aids.  In response to this, Able Living have broadened their range of these products to give customers greater choice.

All products are delivered by Able Living’s Field Support Team, who have a fleet of vans and visit all areas of metropolitan Melbourne and sometimes a little outside the metro area as well.  The members of the Field Support Team are more than just drivers and have good knowledge of products.

Able Living are a registered NDIS provider and are able to supply products through DVA, TAC, Worksafe and SWEP.  They also work with a range of hospitals, aged care facilities and home care package providers.

Able Living’s showrooms are open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm  and Saturday from 9am to 12noon. For more information, go to www.able-living.com.
