Echo Taskforce make arrests after shots fired in Bundoora
Detectives from Echo Taskforce arrested a man yesterday following a firearms incident in Bundoora where shots were allegedly fired earlier this month.
With assistance from the Special Operations Group, investigators executed a search warrant at a home in Norval Crescent, Coolaroo and arrested a 37-year-old man about 2.20pm on Thursday 22 April.
The Coolaroo man was interviewed by detectives and subsequently charged with:
• attempted aggravated burglary
• attempted armed robbery
• prohibited person possess firearm
• intentionally cause injury
• recklessly cause injury
• unlawful assault
• possess drug of dependence
• handle stolen goods
• deal with property suspected proceeds of crime
He was remanded overnight to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
The charges follow an incident at a Grimshaw Street, Bundoora address about 11.20am on 7 April.
Police allege two men approached a 38-year-old man outside the property and produced a firearm before making demands for property.
A struggle ensued between the trio before a number of shots were allegedly fired.
The 38-year-old man sustained minor injuries as a result of the physical altercation.
No one else was injured during the incident.
Detectives arrested a 34-year-old man at a clubhouse in Port Melbourne later that day.
The Port Melbourne man was charged with:
• attempted aggravated burglary
• attempted armed robbery
• reckless conduct endanger life
• prohibited person possess firearm
• unlawful assault
• possess firearm when firearm prohibition order applies
• commit indicatable offence whilst on bail
He was remanded to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 30 June.
