Motorcyclist dies following Ardeer collision
A motorbike rider has died following a collision in Ardeer this evening.
Police have been told the collision, between a Hilux refrigerated van and the motorcyclist, occurred at the intersection of Ballarat Road and Esmond Street about 5.30pm.
Sadly the rider, a 45-year-old Deer Park man, died at the scene.
His pillion passenger, a 29-year-old St Albans woman, has been taken to hospital with suspected critical injuries.
The driver of the van, a 70-year-old Avondale Heights woman, has been taken to hospital for treatment.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are on the scene and are investigating.
Ballarat Road is currently closed to west bound traffic in the vicinity of the collision, and will be for some time, while detectives process the scene.
