With thunderstorms predicted and some areas of Melbourne copping some heavy rains, Friday night 5th February 2021 might have kept a lot of people at home, but not the proud owners of these classic and vintage cars. They turned up in droves to the 6th Anniversary of the Whittlesea Cruise Night.
Terry & Elaine Mountney, the organisers of the event had planned the special 6th Anniversary comeback after a long break with the Covid-19 lockdown and didn’t want anything to put a stop this this evening. With the council advised, live music by Jump and Jive band, shop keepers alerted and the word spread via their Whittlesea Cruise Night Facebook page, the night went ahead.
Live music was pumping out and competitions in which Jay Leno’s Garage and Bunnings Mill Park had donated some gifts to give away with winners being announced at 8pm on the night during the band break, you had to be there to win.
But best of all were the array of classic and vintage cars on display. With each few steps, onlookers were given a new feast to take in. Young and old walked around each car, some remembering the days when he or she drove one on their daily rounds.
This monthly event held on the 1st Friday of each month proves to be a popular event bringing many people into the town that normally wouldn’t be driving there on a Friday night. The weather may have kept a lot of people at home for fear of thunderstorms, however the event was still successful. Let’s hope that Mother Nature might be kinder next month as it turned out to be quite a warm night.
